Day 6: Describe how you shop for books
So so so so so so excited to write about this as this is my favourite thing to do: shopping for books!! If you have read my blog post where I wrote my book related confessions, then this will not surprise you. I spend too much money on books! Today through this post I will describe to you how I shop for books. I'll share how I choose which ones to buy, where to buy, and all those stuffs. I strongly believe that each one of us is different which means we all have different habits when it comes to book shopping, so if you are having a good day and want to make my day even better you can always tell me your habits in terms of book shopping on my ask.fm.
In the first challenge (book related confessions) I stated that I enjoy paperbacks more than e-books, which may be the reason why I go to bookshops frequently. Most of the time, I look up which books to buy (on the internet) before I go to the bookshop, so I don't spend too much time doubting which ones to get.
But if I don't know which book to buy, I'd like to browse on goodreads to see what my friends are reading and if there are some that interest me, and of course for good ratings.
In bookstores, I tend to reach out my hand and seek the most appealing book cover, and start reading the synopsis on its back. I know people say "don't judge a book by its cover" (here: in a book context), but oh well, it's always nice to have a nice book cover. I also pay attention to books written by my favourite author (Haruki Murakami, in case you're wondering).
Here are some bookstores I visit: Corman Boekhandel (Belgium), Gramedia (Indonesia), ak.'sa'ra (Indonesia), Kinokuniya (Indonesia), Periplus (Indonesia), and Shakespeare and Company (Paris). Disclaimer: locations stated are the locations I visit. These bookstores can be found in different countries. I visit Corman the most because I live in Belgium.
Each one of us has our own way in terms of book shopping, feel free to share yours on my ask.fm or by joining this challenge:
Until the next challenge!
